Campbell quits as Lib Dem leader
There is something not right about this story.
- The leader of the party resigns and yet he appears to have spoken to no one about this decision within the party, even his PPS
- The announcement needs to be made by the President of the Party and the acting leader; the former leader is nowhere to be seen
- 6 hours after the announcement the President and the now acting-leader have not held any discussions with the former leader
I am not a conspiracy theorist but there is clearly more to this story than meets the eye.
Ming said the following in his letter of resignation:
Accordingly I now submit my resignation as Leader with immediate effect.
I do not intend to hold a press conference or to make any further comment.
From a personal point of view, as a Tory, I have enjoyed Ming's disastrous period as leader. However, the question every Lib Dem now needs to ask themselves is - is the problem the leader or is it something deeper?
