Is your party a joke Mr. Brown?

I am afraid the Labour party is now turning into a bit of a joke. They have Labour PPC's who are insulting the employers and workers in Crewe and Nantwich by-election and now we have Yeovil Labour party committing political suicide.

The Yeovil Labour PPC is an interesting person whose views are probably more closely aligned to Fidel Castro than they are to his party and Gordon Brown. Now, on some spurious excuse that he does not like the BNP (an horrific party whose views we should be ignoring) he wants Labour voters to vote Lib Dem in a Chard district council by-election on the 29th May. Fortunately, in my humble experience, it is not likely in a local election that voters are going to go from voting for a party that is screwing up the country to voting Lib Dem - a party that is making a mess of South Somerset and Chard!

Fortunately we have in our candidate, David Mears, a young man who is determined to make a difference for the residents of Chard. Labour voters who want to make a difference and bring about a change can only really vote Conservative.

I wonder whether they cleared this change of tactic with Labour HQ and Gordon Brown?

Yeovil Labour Party - Blog

In order to send a clear message that the people of Chard and the Yeovil constituency as a whole do not want a nationalist to represent them we are encouraging our supporters to vote for the Liberal Democrat candidate

  1. I don't really see how the conservatives are the only ones who can bring change to the area?

What you going to do privatise the NHS? Or are we going with current Conservative policy of "haha we told you so" to everything the Labour goverment do even though you ahve no clear stance of your own.

You guys are so wishy washy I have more repect for the BNP cos tehy are at least open with their disgusting beliefs.

Where as you lot don't have any, all you do is meander between oooh we are kinda like this ooh we are a bit like that. Grow some balls.

  2. As the Labour Party is not contesting the Crimchard ward by-election on May 29th it is perfectly reasonable for us to suggest to our supporters in Chard who we recommend that they vote for instead.

There is a risk that with no Labour candidate in the race that our supporters will just stay home. The last thing anyone involved in decent politics should want is the BNP to be elected with barely a third of the vote on a depressed turnout.

David Mears may well be a good person, but when he stood for election in 2007 he saw a swing against him and to the Lib Dems of 6.7%. In this campaign the important thing to the Labour Party isn't that the Lib Dems or the Tories win, it's that the people of Crimchard ward tell the BNP carpetbagger where to go.

We're asking our supporters to vote for the most electable of the two decent candidates in this race, that's Jenny Kenton and the Liberal Democrats.

    Results last time:
    Chard Crimchard - 3rd May 2007
Jean Smith (Lib Dems) 439 (52.2%)
    David Mears (Conservative) 306 (36.4%)
    Colin Rolfe (Labour) 96 (11.4%)

  3. Andy - The disgrace is surely that you have not put up a candidate? The reason the BNP thrives is because political parties let them have the space to thrive.

Had you put up a candidate you would have not had to take the pretty desperate decision to align yourself with a party that is doing what it can to destroy Chard. High parking charges and the selling off of Council assets in Chard so that they can fund their Sports Zone in Yeovil are but two of the problems they are inflicting on people.

It seems that Labour, based on the most spurious of statistics, that somehow the BNP might win this seat, has decided to back these types of anti-Chard policies.

It is a very sad day for the Labour party!

David - The Conservatives are the only ones who can change things in South Somerset away from the destructive policies of the Lib Dems. Labour are not going to win here for as long as they can't be bothered to put up candidates.

When it comes to national politics (which you seem to be most interested in) then voting Lib Dem is a wasted vote. Voting lib Dem will not get rid of this dreadful Labour Government as the only alternative to Labour are the Conservatives.
