Energy defence

It has long been my view that one of the most important aspects of the coming general election will be the issue of security. This includes energy, food and military.

Yesterday I attended a vey good debate on the issue of energy security with a speech by Liam Fox. He outlined how the Russian invasion of Georgia was an iisue about energy supplies as much as it was about sovereignty.

What is clear is that the future of our world - whether it be through Iranian nuclear weapons or a growing desire by the Russians to exploit Arctic energy supplies - is very uncertain.
