Lib Dem Council Tax

The Lib Dems run Somerset County Council. They face pressure at the coming elections in June and a real chance they will lose control to the Conservatives.

So, in their final budget before the election they come up with a Council Tax rise that is apprently the lowest they could produce - 2.5%.

This is all very well but the fact is they have shoved up tax for years in Somerset and even 2.5% is a lot of money when real incomes, especially for those on fixed incomes, are falling.

The Conservative Councty Council candidates and the party nationally, believe that we should be freezing Council Tax and that is the policy the Conservative councillors are taking into these elections. It is a nationally proven fact that Conservative Councils cost you less than Lib Dem ones.

So, if you want lower taxes and more effective services (without all the silly Lib Dem pet schemes) then voting Conservative in June is the only option.

NB. Interestingly, the Lib Dems nationally have said they want to scrap 90% of all road schemes across the country (Something which I have already blogged-on in relation to their double standards when it comes to the A303. I am struggling to find where they have implemented this policy in Somerset.
