Working for Yeovil

Save our local newspapers

I attended a meeting this morning with Jeremy Hunt who is concerned about the slow decline of local newspapers, in part bought about by the recession.

Conclusion?

Local papers are important
BBC bloke says he has a range of ideas - this from an organisation who last year tried to launch a service that would kill off local paper
There are too many central diktats from large publishing houses who are often in another country

I made the point about the BBC needing to build bridges with local media if it wishes to collaborate.

Good and interesting meeting.
