Lib Dems to cut child benefit?

laws-drawingOften the questions that are asked by MPs reveal quite a bit about their thinking. This is particularly true of small parties (like the Lib Dems) who have little money to pay for their research. This if often why so many Lib Dem MPs ask so many questions as they can get their research funded by the taxpayer.

But, I was horrified to see that David Laws has been asking questions about child benefit and how much could be saved by restricting child benefit to households who have over £50k in income. NB this ishouseholds so it could be that this is two people working on the average wage.

The saving is a not inconsiderable sum but could the Lib Dems really be proposing that Child Benefit should be cut for households on average incomes?
