Yeovil Conservatives back Widdecombe for Speaker

widdecombeAt a recent meeting of the Yeovil Conservatives I held a straw poll on who they would support for speaker and the unanimously chose Anne Widdecombe. They backed not just because they thought she would do a good job but because she would also only be doing it till the next election.

Hardly scientific, I accept, but important, given the nightmare that has led to Parliament choosing a new speaker, to hear what the views of the electorate are.

  1. Yes Kevin, a real shame she wasn't elected as she speaks her mind even if it's at odds with her party line - a true advocate of People Before Politics - the importance of which many politicians from all sides have forgotten about, preferring to put themselves, party and pocket first instead, time and time again.
